I have thoroughly enjoyed being an artist and a teacher of all ages here in the San Juans for over thirty years now. The natural beauty of the islands and the Pacific Northwest beckoned our family long ago. We raised our son here on San Juan Island, so while my husband created beautiful homes I taught early education and then art and humanities to junior and senior high school students at our local experiential college prep school Spring Street International School.
My artistic life here is easily influenced by daily long hikes with dogs and friends throughout these incredibly striking landscapes and seascapes. I’m drawn to watercolors and to acrylics depicting scenes that speak directly to natural beauty, and am deeply involved in creating pieces that employ strong shapes, as well as vivid natural colors and textures. They aptly reflect the local atmosphere of natural beauty found in these hauntingly beautiful islands in the Salish Seas.
I have watercolors available in their 9” x 12” original sizes, as well as prints of any size imaginable. There is a vast array of local images which beckon larger formats, hence I am also presently creating larger acrylic painting which will soon be available in larger and smaller sizes. There are 5” x 7” note cards of each image available as well.
